General Questions

A 3.0 GPA is required for the online MBA.
The GRE or GMAT is not required for WPI’s online graduate business programs. International students will be required to submit English proficiency scores. While WPI requires a minimum TOEFL score of 84, the Business School requires a minimum TOEFL score of 90 or IELTS score of 7. See our international students page for more detailed information.
Once you complete and submit your application, you will receive a decision via email within 10 business days. Please see our admissions requirements page for more information on what you need to apply.
Class lectures are recorded so that you can view them at a time that fits your schedule. Instructors offer synchronous office hours and they may offer additional live discussions and other interactive content, but attendance at these is optional.

If circumstances allow, you can enroll in the on-campus section of a course. To do so, you can register yourself for the on-campus section when you are registering for classes.

You can fulfill up to one-third of the degree’s credit requirements through courses taken elsewhere. This coursework must not have been applied toward another completed degree.
No, your transcripts or diploma will not carry any notation that the coursework was completed online.

All transcripts must be submitted electronically. You will be able to submit them during the application process. Visit the application management page to begin or return to your application.

You may submit unofficial transcripts with your application. If you are accepted, you must provide official transcripts before the start of your first course.

In addition to hosting three annual career fairs and other on-campus and virtual events that attract more than 400 employers, we help you craft your resume and cover letter, conduct mock interviews, and assist with the job-search process. Our top-rated Career Development Center is available to all students, including our online students. While we cannot guarantee job placement, we strive to help students find success once they finish their degree.
Internships are not a requirement for any of our programs, but a plethora of great internship opportunities exist for WPI students within the greater Boston/Worcester area and around the world. Yes, online students can receive a student ID for a fee of $15. Accepted students should visit the WPI ID services page to request their ID card.

Master of Business Administration Questions

While there is no prerequisite coursework required to enroll in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, applicants are required to have a minimum of two years of post-graduate professional work experience.
Full-time students typically take two years to complete the degree. Part-time students typically take four years to complete the degree. All students must finish their studies within seven years.
You can take the classes in any order that you prefer, with the exception of a few classes that require prerequisite courses.
Yes, students in the MBA program will declare a specialization as part of the curriculum. The MBA program offers 20 specializations, and students can declare up to two.
